CTW started yesterday, with Matrica in attendance. We found the session on the real-life application of AI to commodities particularly interesting. It reinforced the market feedback we are receiving regarding the strong growth in interest (and concern) about the impact of extreme weather events and climate change on physical commodity infrastructure, and asset valuations.

 

Industries such as energy, water, and telecommunications have numerous installations and facilities exposed to the weather. As climate change drives extreme weather volatility, many of these assets will suffer increased outages, or may no longer be viable. Owners of these assets will be forced into detailed climate risk assessments and even re-valuation of their asset base by their insurers and bankers.

 

At Matrica, we've introduced new functionality to Nominator 5 to enable physical asset operators to model the impact of extreme weather events and climate change to their energy, water, and telecommunications assets.
